Introduction To The Project
We encounter situations where unexpected and unwanted events affect our routine activities - even to the extent of their total disruption. Such occurrences demand a live and interactive way through which people can report emergencies and the authorities can better manage their resources, in accordance with the requirements, and send for help.
Disaster Management pertains to our response, reactions and behavior under these circumstances and it is the essence of this project.This program facilitates in minimizing the effects of disaster through timely support to the affectees. From shelter to food, medical assistance,communications, all major requirements are addressed
About Sindh Maps
Sindh Map is Social Network where people can login and upload any information, especially pertaning to Disaster Management. In case of any emergency, people can alert the authorities by filling in the details of the situation and indicating how urgent it is to help authorities decide their course of action. When the authorities have dispatched help, they can also indicate that on the map so that the victims know help is coming.
This system provides one platform where live data can be accumulated without any time constraint and measures can be commenced for assistance without delay.
After logging in to the site, people can view data that has been uploaded by by other members of the site so that at all times they are aware of the most updated information. Data uploaded generates dynamic layers and is viewable in the form of layers so that users can select, or deselect any layer they want, with the facility of superimposing multiple layers on top of each other. This system heps authorities in decision making and resource management.
Though this system can be used in any disaster emergencies, it focus has been the most recent one - floods.
Future Plans
Following are some future plans regarding this site:
- SMS Alert - As soon as requirement arises appropriate authorities should be alerted.
- Upon dispatching resources, authorities must also be to respond through SMS.
- Connect it to Twitter's live feed to spread the message around the world.
- Generate report to assist documentation.
